6th June - report from a very proud Caron Harris
Good news !! Emma has won the 2011 Lancashire Ladies Championship!
The event was played over three days and began with two rounds of 18 hole strokeplay from a mixture of red, yellow and white tees, the top 16 qualifiers then progressing to the matchplay stages.
Emma recorded scores of one under par 72 and two over par 75 for the first day's play which left her as second qualifier.
Emma won her next day's matches; firstly against Lucie Walker 4 and 3 and then against the very experienced Gill Nutter 3 and 2.
The semi-final the next day was played against last year's winner, scratch handicapper Bethany Garton, and Emma won 2 and 1.
The final was played against Elizabeth Stebbings and Emma won the match 2 and 1
Emma was congratulated on her consistancy and high quality of play and was presented with the Captains Prize Trophy for winning the Championship and the Carr Gold Medal for the best first round gross.
Emma is delighted to win the championship, she played really well and we are very proud of her.

25th April
Rowany's popular Easter Monday Open Ladies competition was won in grand style by junior Lizzie Power with a fabulous score of 41 points!
Conditions were tricky with a blustery wind but 16 year old Lizzy made it look easy coming in a full 7 points ahead of the rest of the field. Lizzy has only been playing for 2 years and is delighted with her handicap reduction from 32 to 28 along with a lovely prize from generous sponsor, Sea Breezes.
In addition, 15 year old Ellie Matthews took 3rd bronze. Ellie (handicap 23) has been playing for 5 years and it is rumoured that her younger sister is taking up the game so look out ladies!
Other prizes were taken by Jasmine Heginbotham, Su Williams, Megan Moore, President Ann Scott and Island Games Team member Cath Preston.

Emma Harris
IOM junior golfer, Emma Harris, has been selected to join the England U16s Squad and played in the Nations Cup at Strathmore Golf Course, Scotland on 14th & 15th April.
Sadly, Emma fell ill during the first round of the tournament with some sort of tummy bug or food poisoning but soldiered on as she didn't want to let the team down. Having had an excellent practice round, she was disappointed with her two rounds of 78 but says she thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing with the team.
Emma is now 15 and has been competing in off-Island competitions since she was 8 years old. In 2010 she was U14s winner at the Northern Girls, U14s winner at the North of England U16s Championship, was third in the English Girls Championship, second in the St Andrews Junior Ladies Open and retained her IOM Ladies title for the third year in a row.
